The Prohibited List
Since 2004, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has been responsible for preparing and publishing a list of substances and methods that are banned in sport, known as The Prohibited List.

This is one of the International Standards, which identifies substances and methods that are still prohibited (both in competition and out-of-competition), only in competition and substances that are prohibited in certain sports. The substances and methods listed are classified according to different categories (such as steroids, stimulants or gene doping).
An Athlete may be permitted to use a Prohibited Substance or Method for medical reasons if receives a Therapeutic Use Exemption.
The list is updated annually after an extensive approval process. Additional substances or methods may be added to the list at any time during the year, but not before the expiry of the three-month period.
